Bailey & Wood was once again named a Top Workplace in Indiana and featured in the Indianapolis Star this past weekend. “Nothing is more important than taking care of our work family and that is exactly what it is to me, a family. We work hard and together to get the job done for all our of clients which makes it all worth it. But having an environment that is suitable for each person to maximize their skills is key while also being a place they feel comfortable in and can grow”, stated Founder D. Mike Wood.

Below is just one of the articles featuring Bailey & Wood published.

You might be forgiven for assuming a mortgage company would necessarily be a large, serious and impersonal organization – in fact, some who’ve worked in the industry say that’s precisely what they’ve experienced. But, according to employees, that’s not at all the case at Bailey and Wood Financial Group.
“It’s not stuffy,” said Jake Hemrick, a new loan officer at Bailey and Wood. “It’s really just a family environment.”
Sometimes employees and even ownership bring in kids or dogs. And it’s not that it’s a laid-back free-for-all, but rather it’s a roll-up-your sleeves, hard-working, everybody-helps-everybody, welcoming place, employees say.
What makes it more personal from the inside out is also what employees report makes the work more fulfilling and efficient. Having everything from processors, underwriters, management staff – those involved in everything from originating a mortgage loan to closing it – work together under the same roof is invaluable.
Management set the tone by being accessible and lending a hand as needed – just as others in the company do.

“It doesn’t matter how busy they are, they will stop and help you no matter what,” said Tracy Williams, a processor.
“It is a family, it is a team, everybody’s in it for the same goal,” adds Grant Lyons, a loan officer who’s been with the company for half a dozen years. “I cannot express the difference between us and a company that’s not set up like we are.”
Employees say they feel appreciated, and that the personal touch they experience in the workplace is reflected in the way the Whiteland-based company does business and its presence in the local community. It’s active in local schools and gives back in other ways, like hosting a charity golf outing to raise money for families in need.
All things considered, the company has a big reputation, particularly on the Southside, while maintaining the appeal of an everybody-knows-everybody workplace. “It’s incredible how large the company is in terms of the presence and business,” Hemrick says, but how small it is in terms of how everyone interacts and how closely bonded everyone is.
